2017 Race Results

The Boston Firefighters Local 718 10K Memorial Road Race was established to memorialize the brave members of the Boston Fire Department and Local 718 who courageously gave their lives while fulfilling their duty for the citizens of Boston.

Race day is a celebration of their lives, while raising money for several local charities, funding scholarships and also providing a great running event enjoyed by generations and supported by local establishments. Rain or shine, runners and volunteers come from all around to join together in the names of fallen firefighters and to run a scenic 10K race around Dorchester Bay, then enjoy a couple hours of trophy and prize giveaways. Everyone is welcome and a great time is had by all. Please join us for the 36th Annual Boston Firefighters Local 718 10K Memorial Road Race on October 21, 2018 at 9:00 AM, and see why over 1,000 runners keep coming back year after year!

About the Race

A 10K (6.2 miles) USATF certified course that is fast and flat, with a great ocean view, strict course security, and electronic timing with mile splits. Water stops are available along the course. Plenty of free parking is available for the race.

This year we honor Joe Toscano, who died unexpectedly Friday March 17, 2017. Joe was a 20-year veteran firefighter for the Watertown Fire Department and was working an active fire when he collapsed. Joe’s life in Randolph, Mass. revolved around his family, his wife of 25 years, Maureen (McCarthy), and his five children, Alyssa, Patrick, Mary Cate, William and Michael. He was a master craftsman who built his family’s home and never tired of helping friends and relatives. At the Watertown Fire Station, if Joe was on duty he could be found cooking for his group. Joe was kind and generous to all who knew him. He was a dedicated and energetic supporter at Incarnation Camp in Connecticut, which he attended as a child and worked at as an adult for nearly four decades.

Race shirts will be provided to all participants who register prior to October 1st! Participants can pick-up their bib numbers and shirts on race day at the registration tent beginning at 7:30 AM. PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY TO AVOID LAST MINUTE LINES!

Refund Policy: Sorry, refunds are not available for this event.

I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors, & administrators waive any & all rights and claims for damages I have against the race directors, USATF, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the City of Boston, Local 718, their successors and assigns, for any and all injuries by me at said meet.

The Fenian SonsSince 1996 The Fenian Sons have been delivering traditional Irish music with a “today sound” to the New England area. Having started at 16 as schoolmates in a small kitchen in Roslindale, MA, The Fenian Sons have grown into one of Boston’s most lively and well known Irish bands. The “Sons,” as they are sometimes called, put on a more energetic twist but have held fast to the traditional tunes made famous by The Wolfe Tones, Clancy Brothers and Paddy Reilly to name a few. With their first CD “Live” under their belt and their studio recordings “Uphill Fight” and “617,” they indeed are making their mark everywhere.
